Identification Requirements to Establish an Account

Collection of Information From Individuals

ATFCU requires the following information be provided by each individual member before opening an account:

  • Name
  • Physical mailing address
  • Date of birth
  • Identification number (Social Security number for U.S. citizens, or taxpayer identification number for non-U.S. persons)

ATFCU will not open an account for an individual awaiting a social security or individual taxpayer identification number.

Verification of Individuals

ATFCU will verify the identity of a new member appearing at the credit union by examining the following unexpired documents:

  • Texas issued drivers license with photo or Texas DPS Identification card with photo
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Valid foreign issued passport with photo and U.S. stamp.

If one of the above documents is not available, verification of the following identification will be required:

  • U.S. government issued military ID card with photo
  • Non-Texas issued and unexpired drivers license
If the member is under the age of 16 and does not have valid photo identification, we may accept an original or certified copy of their birth certificate as identification. Minor accounts require a joint owner age 18 or over.
